St. Catherine University's annual Teaching and Learning Network (TLN) inter-campus workshop will focus in part on the work of the Higher Learning Commission committee.
"The Reflective U: What Are We Called to Do" is Tuesday, Jan. 24.
The annual Moore Lecture will be followed by learning activities related to the University’s international responsibility and the Higher Learning Commission Self Study for Accreditation. The afternoon schedule will feature faculty and staff meetings.
2012 Sister Anne Joachim Moore Lecture
This year's Moore Lecture will be delivered by Susan Klappa, PT, Ph.D., associate professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health.
The title of her address is, "Teaching Hope & Love: Lessons from the Comilia."
Teaching the lessons of hope and love are the essence of our everyday work here at St. Catherine University. These lessons are universal and cross the borders of our two campuses, four schools, three colleges, and our many disciplines and departments. The 2012 Moore Lecture will focus on stories from the Comilia. These stories will allow us to reflect on the powerful and deep lessons learned as we engage in and with international communities. This is the work of teaching and learning, innovation and leadership that benefits global communities across borders, cultures, and generations using education as a catalyst for social justice.
Sue Klappa earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree at the College of St. Catherine (now St. Catherine University) and her doctorate from the University of Minnesota in Education, Curriculum & Instruction: Family, Youth, and Community. She also holds a M.A. degree in Physical Education from the University of Minnesota. Sue joined the DPT Program faculty in 2005.
