In June of 2011, HLC Steering Committe announced that the theme for the St. Catherine University self-study would be From College to University: Eight Directions to Five Destinations in Ten Years. The St. Catherine University theme for the HLC self-study is the evolution from the College of St. Catherine to St. Catherine University. The foundation for the self-study is the 2020 Vision Strategic Plan, itself a document that limns our college past (who we have been) and charts the course to our university future (who we will become).
The theme of “evolution” will crystallize all aspects of the strategic plan into a coherent self-study. The theme will illustrate how our strategic plan meets the five HLC criteria. It will help us explain our strategic plan, how the eight strategic directions take us down the path toward the five destination metrics. The theme will also allow us to ask crucial questions of ourselves as an institution—an expectation of HLC—and will prepare us for the post-2013 HLC accreditation process, known as the Pathways Project.
